Data Assistant;  part time posts, 24 hours over 4 days

We are looking for a Data Assistant to join our data team to help with the smooth running of recall systems to ensure that patients are invited to attend reviews of their long -term conditions and are also invited in for other health screening,  The postholder needs have / develop an understanding of Practice IT systems / processes and how they interlink.  A knowledge of the wider use of data both internal and external is also essential to assist with contractual, clinical safety information, governance and reporting requirements.

The data team supports the following:

  • Contributes to the creation, development and running of system searches to provide data outputs to support clinical governance, patient safety, completion of returns, data collection and reporting, patient recalls etc.
  • Runs routine and one–off system searches.
  • Reviews data for the purpose of accuracy, appropriateness and usability.
  • Member of the QOF / IIF team
  • Interrogates data outcomes to assist with meeting of contractual reporting requirements (QOF, CQRS, QI, IIF, Enhanced Services – DMARDS, anticoagulation, LARC etc), internal developments, clinical and admin audits, disease prevalence monitoring etc.
  • Discusses data outcomes across the Practice to include the GPs e.g., Clinical Performance & QOF), to interpretoutcomes and modifies search criteria resulting from findings, debate and thus contributes to change and development with the implications this has on systems and reporting.
  • Provides advice and guidance on the correct use of clinical and admin coding in line with business rule sets to support workflow, targets and financial remuneration.
  • Assists with the development of more efficient ways of working by supporting the practice team with consistency of approach, template and protocol promotion, clinical lists for GPs.
  • Utilises the main practice database system and peripheral bolt-on software to increase efficiency, optimise use of the IT available and to comply with data handling governance.
  • Creates templates when required for recalls and campaigns etc.

Whilst we need to you be responsive to IT solutions, there is no getting away from the fundamental qualities of a ‘can do, ’ approach to work – well organised, positive, caring, calm, resourceful, tactful, flexible and supportive of team colleagues. Your personal skills and team fit are most important to as full training will be given.

Previous experience in a healthcare setting is very desirable, but we are also keenly interested to hear from you if you have worked in an administrative role.
